Starfish Connection, Inc. is a 501c3, all-volunteer organization, whose mission is to address Stamford’s academic achievement gap by providing long-term mentoring, after-school and summer enrichment programs, and educational support to promising students from the city’s underserved families. We pair a mentor with a student, one-on-one to provide these resources from 3rd grade thru 12th grade.
Our goal is to ensure these students reach their potential and achieve their dreams of attending competitive 4-year colleges, breaking the cycle of poverty for themselves and future generations.

One of the most important components of the Starfish Connection program is to provide a variety of enrichment experiences that gives our students the opportunity to experience the world. With this comes a growing sense of confidence that positively impacts a child’s life!
Dear Starfish Connection Friends and Supporters,
If I had to sum up this year, I would use the term, resilience. Our students, team leaders, mentors, and parents fought the virus and won, at least for now. Despite school closings, distance learning, isolation from peers, food and housing insecurity, and relatives who passed away due to Covid, we fought back together and made great strides.
Thanks to the generosity of our grantors, personal donors, and community partners, we were able to continue our mission. We provided needed computers and tech support to Starfish families. We adapted after-school and enrichment activities to the Zoom platform, including music lessons and tutoring. We also created fun activities and maintained SAT prep classes, book clubs with pizza delivery, and parent meetings.
Thanks to their hard work and the dedication of their mentors, these students have bright futures and opportunities for themselves and their families for generations to come. This was Judith Martin’s dream and her legacy.

Our Founder and Inspiration
